a different name

being a black girl I really wanted a different name.. you see my initials (maiden) are K.K.  And i always was asked the question what is your middle name?  After finding out (Calandra) the next question would be is that spelled with a "K". which would make me K.K.K.  I hated that.  I did want to change my name I really like Angela that way people would be able to call me Angie.  or even Oprah ( she was and still is my idol)  now that i am older I have really grown into my name I have only met three other people with the same name (one is named after me) so that is great. I come from a small town so whenever someone said the name Kara well I knew that it was me because i was the only one. Sooooo i guess as you get older feelings do change my mother picked out my name from a book of names from 1978 she said that she took her time and looked throughout the entire book and after changing a few things around (Kara was spelled Cara and Calandra was Kalandra) she felt she had the perfect name for me.  And you know what......she was right!
