Hey all, let me start by saying I am so touched by all the lovely, caring moms who have followed Zoe's story over the past couple of weeks. It is so comforting to know there are moms who are praying for you and your family.I am happy to say that Zoe is improving greatly as she is on a strict gluten-free diet now. She has gained 10 ozs and is up playing, laughing, talking and giving her poor twin brother all kinds of hell these days. He enjoyed his "free time", not having his bully sister snatch every toy, snack, sippy cup, etc, away from him but he is also...

Just thought I would follow up and let everyone know that Zoe's biopsy results came in yesterday. She was diagnosed with Celiac Disease which is an immune disease that involves the body rejecting and being allergic to all wheat-based or "gluten" food items. She will require a special diet for the rest of her life. We are still in the process (a long one for sure) of learning how to feed her. For now the focus is on getting her to gain some weight and stay hydrated. She will be followed closely by the doctors. She is suffering from protein malnourishment, malabsorption and she...

We still don't know what is wrong with her but she is doing much better. Yesterday she had several biopsies of her esophagus, colon and intestines. We will have the results on Tuesday. More x-rays, CT scans and blood work has been done that all show that things are pretty normal. There was a bit of a disagreement between her nurses and her docs on whether or not she should have come home today but she is eating, playing and showing attitude so we thought she might perk up a lot at home. We will have follow up appointments with a couple of doctors this week...

So yesterday at the doctor, due to dehydration and another 1/2 a pound weight loss, Zoe was sent to the hospital. Doctors believed that a night of IV fluids would be the miracle turn-around. She is completely hydrated and is showing no signs of improvement so things are moving towards finding an answer. They have determined that it is not viral as no one else in the family is sick and she has not been running a fever. This morning she had decreased bowel sounds so they have a gastro doc who is running tests to see if there is an obstruction. If that is ruled out the next specialist to...

It all began a couple of weeks ago. At the time we joked that she was having sympathy PMS for me. She was cranky, no downright fussy and impossible to please. Prior to that she had some really odd diarrhea but that seemed to pass after a few days. The crankiness got worse over two or three days. We chalked it up to teething. We took her temperature and it showed no fever. She didn't have a runny nose, she wasn't tugging on her ears. It had to be teething. Then she began to just lay around. The child who once couldn't...

I just love watching the two of them work together. I wonder what it is like for them to always have a buddy. I have been showing them how to build towers with their blocks and just noticed that it is kind of quiet (usually not a good sign) but I look over they are building a tower together out of books. It is amazing to watch their give and take. One would put a book on the pile then the other. The cooperation is so great especially when most of the time I am dealing w/big-bully-sister snatching everything out of brothers hands even when she has NO interest in...

I swear when it first started I thought NO WAY! Now my kids are watching it and I am viewing it along w/them and it is growing on me. What the hell is wrong with me? This show is a complete trip. That orange one w/one eye looks like a dildo WITH TEETH! The DJ host dude is looks like he should have a glow stick and a pacifier if you know what I mean or a crack pipe. I am need of children's programming intervention. The Wonder Pets used to be my bag but I realized on our recent TWENTY FIVE HOUR DRIVE that I was singing along to the Wonder Pets CD...

I have been dying for this new kitchen for a few years now and it is here. My hubby worked SO hard on it and I helped. It cost a fortune (for us anyway) but I swear it is horrible all because of Arizona's hard has nails water and stainless steel. Stainless (whatever) appliances, drawer pulls, back-splashes, slate gray counter tops and they look like they are aged already. It drives me nuts. And what were we thinking buying "stainless" with 15 mos old twins and two older boys? It is impossible to keep clean. Add to that the wood floors....

Yes, there is a plumber here literally using a jackhammer on the foundation of our home in the kitchen and the twins are sleeping right through it. I can't believe it. I am cracking up. Of course, if the jackhammering (is that a word?) is not done soon they may wake up. Guess we'll see. So far, 5 days w/o a kitchen and $4000 over-budget. This sucks! Can't wait till it is over. Of course they did wake up, right when he was done. I should mention I didn't put my babies to sleep during jackhammering on purpose. It was an unexpected occurance that came up...
