According to this story, she may be the daughter of a woman whose burned body was found. Poor little thing!! I hope that justice is served and that she finds a good home!! I'd love to take her myself.

I keep hearing how I'm doing my kids a "disservice" because I homeschool them, and how they need to go to public school to learn how to "socialize" and learn about the "real world." Let me tell you a little bit about what I learned when I was in public school and maybe you'll understand why I refuse to subject my beloved children to that.
I learned that because I was short, skinny, had freckles, and a big nose, I was ugly and worthless. I learned how to fake being sick, so that I didn't have to go to school and be bullied and teased relentlessly every day. I learned that because I wasn't a...

I didn't write this, but I wish I had, because it sure sums up my thoughts when I get questioned and judged about my decision to homeschool!! I added a few thoughts of my own at the end.
1 Please stop asking us if it's legal. If it is - and it is - it's insulting to imply that we're criminals. And if we were criminals, would we admit it?
2 Learn what the words "socialize" and "socialization" mean, and use the one you really mean instead of mixing them up the way you do now. Socializing means hanging out with other people for fun. Socialization means having acquired the skills...

I keep getting friend requests on Facebook from people who wouldn't have spit on me if I was on fire when we were in high school, yet, now, 16 years later, they want to be my friend!!! Go figure!! I don't know whether to be amused or angry. Angry, because they made my life a living hell for years, never apologized for it, made me dread going to school every day, and now they deem me worthy enough to be their friend. Amused, because I'm a happily married mother of 2 wonderful children, married to the best man on earth, and they're probably fat, used up and miserable now. I got a friend...

There was yet ANOTHER question in the "Answers" section today criticizing homeschooling because apparently, this one homeschooled family that the poster knows won't let their kids play with the posters kids. According to the OP, this family never goes anywhere, they just stay home all the time. She asked the homeschoolers on the site if we allow our kids to play with kids who go to public school and then of course, there came the responses of the uninformed that all homeschoolers are socially deprived and there is something wrong with homeschooling. As a homeschooler, I seriously do...

Alot of you know that I have REALLY been struggling with migraines for the past several months. I've had them for 23 years but for unknown reasons, since last September, they've gotten worse and more frequent, averaging at least one every week, sometimes more. I've been to doctor after doctor, tried everything conventional and unconventional, had tests, made diet changes, and I'm not any better. To say I'm frustrated and discouraged would be an understatement. I'm frustrated because I can't be the wife and mother I need to be; these migraines are literally robbing my life. It's hard to...

Okay, I got involved in a "debate" with some hateful, rude, ignorant excuses for mothers in the Answers section, because they believe that it's wrong for special needs children ( including autistic) to get private school tuition paid for by their tax dollars. They think that if you have a special needs child, you should either homeschool them, or pay for private education out of your pocket, because after all, their "normal" child doesn't get any special perks, so why should your child ( the one you chose to have and chose to screw up, yes, someone actually said that!!) get any? Some of...

But it wasn't in the sky!!! I had the most embarrassing moment of my LIFE last night, and I wasn't going to share it, but I figured, if it makes you laugh, and cheers you up after a rotten day, then what the heck!!
I went to the bathroom before church last night and walked into the auditorium. Thankfully, the place wasn't full yet,so praise the Lord for that!! I was standing in the aisle, about halfway down, looking for a place to sit, and a sweet little old lady came up to me and said " You're giving everyone a free shot!!" I didn't understand what she meant, she said it again, and...

Yesterday we went to a Memorial Day parade in the town that my husband grew up in. My husband's niece was performing in the parade, and we wanted the kids to go to just because it was Memorial Day and pay tribute to our fallen heroes. The beginning of the parade, the local high school ROTC did a beautiful ceremony and placed a ceremonial wreath on the war memorial in front of the police station and the marching band played "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Taps". I found it very moving and was standing there with tears streaming down my face. At the same time I was disgusted with the behavior...

I just read a journal by a lady who lost a bunch of weight and she posted her "Before" and "After" pics. I lost 50 pounds, just over 4 years ago and kept it off!!! Everyone's next question when they find that out is always " How did you do it?" There's no secret, no diet, no tricks. I cut back on my portions,( instead of eating 4 pieces of pizza, I cut back to one or two. Instead of eating an Extra Value meal, I got a Happy Meal. I also quit eating at night, that was huge!!) drink LOTS of water and exercise at Curves 3-4 times a week. My motivation came when I got a horrible...
