Your Underwear... From Here to Kenya

Comments (5)
Barbara Dover’s two boxes of 545 pairs of Underwear, 21 Training Bras, and 13 Undershirts made it to Kenya last month.  This is what it looked like after I emptied the boxes. It doesn’t look like much from this angle, but it was a few feet high!! With the help of my kids and the children on the block, we unpacked them, sized them, packed them up along with 1,400 more pairs, and I headed off to Kenya. We visited two IDP camps the first day we arrived. The photo below is of Shalom City refugee camp. It houses approximately 16,000 people. We were able to give every...

Boys are Stupid

The other day Zman screamed from upstairs, "Mom, we need your help and hurry!" I ran upstairs and saw this. Yes, this is Funny Man I with his head in the Dora oven. His head was stuck in between two shelves. It was difficult not to break out in laughter. Okay, I laughed out loud even when he started to get worried. He really got mad when I took the photo!! After we had the "Don't panic" discussion, he was able to wriggle out. He gave me some lame excuse about "looking" for plates. Really? You couldn't just open the OTHER door to look? Really? Well, the only three words that...

Celebrating Mutha's Day With A First Time Mom

Comments (5)
Penelope Dullaghan is a self proclaimed "freelance illustrator, artist, designer, wannabe yogi (I'm working at it), health nut, bit-of-a loner, vegetarian, soul searcher, sacred-finder, stumbler and dust-self-off-and-get-back-upper" kind of woman. I love this description! She is also a brand new Mutha to her beautiful three month old daughter, Veda! I stumbled onto her site simply because she entitled her post, Muthahood Aint For Sissies. One of her girlfriends gave her the shirt to celebrate her very first Mothers Day. I was so happy to see this photo! So, Happy Mutha's Day to you Penny...

Off for the Rest of the Month...

Hello My Friends. I'm leaving on Wednesday for Kenya once again. I just can't believe it. I'll be back on the 26th. The goal of this journey is to fill the girls (at Saint Monica's) requirements (menstrual pads, pens, pencils, deodorant, etc) and look for land to start our own orphanage. It will be a filled week. I will only be on the ground for 8 days. I won't be able to check in here, but will be able to update my twitter accounts via text messaging, and will mobile upload photos onto Facebook. So if you want to see what MFFO and Inspire the Child are up to.... check out,...

Heading Off To Kenya

Comments (7)
Hello my friends!I've been crazy here at Mothers Fighting For Others since we received our Non Profit Status a few weeks ago. Sending out emails for tax deduction letters, counting underwear, and just planning for our newest project, Inspire the Child has kept this Mutha BUSY!I'm heading back out to Kenya next week and will be gone for 11 days. We'll be looking for land and brainstorming on how we are going to accomplish our goals for the new orphanage and school. I want to say thanks for all your love and support my friends. This has all been so amazing and yes, very overwhelming, but I...
