This is our first Christmas in our home, and we've been here two years! Year one we went to my husbands families 400 miles away, and year two we went to my parents in Washington. This year we are staying home and I am really excited to start new traditions. One big problem with this, however, is I dont have any holiday decor. We have our tree (fake, kinda weird since I grew up on a Christmas tree farm - but its easy.) and we have some cheap plastic ornaments we bought when Micah was a baby; but aside from that I never invested much in it. So out of necessity my theme for this year was...

My best friend called me yesterday... her PSYCHO boss laid her off.. shes a Barista and a damn good one, he doesnt know how lucky he is to have her because shes the kind of person who will keep customers coming back.. she has lots of regulars who love her and are the reason his business makes money.. but despite that he is taking over her shifts to save himself a buck. Big mistake. However, the plus side of this is that she is coming here for a MONTH!!!! She was planning to do it in the summer... but it got delayed. Now, without a job.. she really doesnt have anything else to do and...

I have a few "bones" to pick with you, America.
#1. Since when is a "scary" costume TABOO on Halloween? We went to the "Mall-o-ween" with our toddlers at about 5, because it was easy and we knew we would take them around our neighborhood later. People were giving my son, husband, and I dirty looks for our costumes.. and PRAISING my daughter for hers (fairy) while IGNORING my son completely. Her candy bag weighed double when we got home.. and hers was full of nicer candy, his was full of the crap from China and stuff that I wont let them eat so we donate to the shelter. Nice.
I...

I was googling how to make myself an icky zombie for Halloween and came across the COOLEST tutorial... today I gave it a test run and it worked like a charm!
you need:
-roll of TP.. double ply is OK, separate the ply so its only 1 ply thick and tear into strips and chunks/squares.
-bottle of elmers glue
-makeup/fake blood... you can get a "witch" makeup kit at Walmart for $2.00 but I just used my personal foundation and then dappled some eyeshadows (grey, green, purple, black) and fake blood on top.
STEPS:
Step one is to COMPLETELY shave the area you are applying this too. I...

We're going to head to Yellowstone next summer, probably in June/July to have a family Vaca with my parents. We usually drive to Washington but since Yellowstone is only 4 hours away from us we decided to do that instead and they will meet us there. In an effort to save some money by jumping on it early, as this will likely be our only trip next summer.. I wanted some advice and tips from you all!
I haven't been in over 8 years, so I really cant remember a whole lot but I know the things we will do for sure is hit up all the geysers, mud pots, minerva terrace, hot springs and so on....

We're off to my moms n dads in Washington for a few weeks.. no real gameplan about when we will come back or anything, just going to soak up the last bit of summer in my favorite place in the world with my beautiful kiddos!
Since we're staying in the guest house, we wont have the internet unless I go into the main house and I think I wont be bored enough to spent lots of time online so I probably wont get on here much for the next month or so! So if I dont respond to messages or chatters.. I'm not ignoring you, I'm just not getting online as much!
love to you all!

Christmas is rapidly approaching... seriously ladies, September is half over! That leaves us only 105 days (as of Sept 10th) to get everyones gifts done and squared away. Theres another problem. Budgets are tight this year! Seriously tight. And while alot of us have great crafting skills and can make everyones gifts.. for those who dont, here are some super simple gifts anyone can make.
Edition 1:Teacup crafts
-Teacup candles* as featured on DailyBuzz last year! They are SUPER simple to make, and cheap too. I found four teacups at Salvation army, with saucers, for only .50c each....

Our house is for sale, so we have a sign out front and a lockbox on the front door.. you know, its clear to see its for sale from the street or sidewalk. I have been making it a habit to lock all three doors (front, back, and side) religiously since putting it on the market because that makes it easier for me when there is a showing to know I can go out the back and the other two are already taken care of, and I don't want people just walking in or trying to open doors to peek in, our agent told us that has happened to people before.
Today, I am really happy I have started this habit.....
