Serious wake up call. Lock your doors!

Comments (12)
Our house is for sale, so we have a sign out front and a lockbox on the front door.. you know, its clear to see its for sale from the street or sidewalk. I have been making it a habit to lock all three doors (front, back, and side) religiously since putting it on the market because that makes it easier for me when there is a showing to know I can go out the back and the other two are already taken care of, and I don't want people just walking in or trying to open doors to peek in, our agent told us that has happened to people before. Today, I am really happy I have started this habit.....

Q: Did Obama change his back-to-school speech in response to pressure from conservatives? A: One exercise in the accompanying lesson plan was reworded. FULL QUESTION I have just read the text of the speech President Obama is set to deliver to students on September 8 from Virginia. Has the content been altered as a result of the conservative uproar? I am hearing from some sources that the original agenda had subjects like stem cell

Soap by the loaf - cured by Christmas!

Be the first to comment
If anyone wants me to make them a whole or half batch of soap, here's the details. The soap is vegan, and only tested on the human variety of animal.  The batches are 7lbs, but I would be happy to sell you a half batch as I can keep the rest for the shop. A full batch is 24 bars at 4.5oz each.7lbs = 112 oz, my regular retail value is $1 an ounce (so at shows I charge $112.00 per batch) Cost to you for a full batch would be $58.00, half batch would be $36.00. 7lb batches can be split into two scents, but would be $62.00 instead.Because its a custom order, you...

900 miles in one day and NO junk food? Heres how.

My best friend is flying on on Monday and we are (me, her, and the kids) going on a month long vacation to my parents house in Washington. I am so excited, because the two of us - although we have been friends since we were 8 and call eachother sisters - have never been on a roadtrip together! I love to travel, but with travel comes some extra planning because I don't like to feed my kids junk food, and its hard to cook from scratch going 70 mph down the freeway. I have to prepare everything ahead of time, and it has to be able to survive in the cooler at least 18...

Dining room done! (almost. LOL!)

I'm so happy! I finally got a day to just paint.. and I finished off our dining room. It only cost $30 for paint and a new brush and roller cover... $8.00 for the curtains... and I am going to get some fabric to make a table runner. The curtains I bought new still in the package from the salvation army! Apparently Target gives their overstock or unsold items to them.. so when I walked in with my friend a few months ago we found 7-8 packages of these curtains and at $4.00 each it was too good to pass up. I'm so happy I have finally found a place to use them! The wall color is Stone Manor,...

Guess what? "The norm" doesnt work for us.

For a long time I have prided myself on being a free thinker. Someone who doesn't care what society has to say about her actions, looks, or thoughts... But I'll tell you a secret. I let myself get dragged into doing something I never wanted to do.. something BIG.. and now its biting me in the ass. This free thinker and strong willed woman just completely folded, became complacent.. and let my life get out of control. Flash back to 2004. I'm a newlywed.. its June and we are moving into a beautiful 2bd 2ba in the hip new building downtown. It has everything we want.. a pool, spa, gym,...

Who needs to work out when they PAINT!

Comments (1)
I've done it ladies. I've found the new hot workout. Painting! We're considering upgrading to a new home. I love my house, I really really do.. but we have never been "city" people.. both of us want some acres and we cant get that without moving out of town a bit. I've made an appointment a few weeks out, for September 2nd to have an agent come give us a market value on our place and see what if any gains we've made in the past two years (I know we've made some but probably not as much as if the market hadn't gone *poof* a WEEK after we closed!) So to freshen the place up a...

If your child is a compulsive biter.. keep them the hell off the playground. We went to the mall today... I needed a haircut, so DH came with, brought the kids to enjoy the air conditioned playground.. and I went off to get my snip snip which went... HORRIBLY, but thats another story. When I got done, I came down to the play area and sat down with DH... I hear this mom yell "NO! Dont you bite her! NO BITE!" at her kid. The "Biting victim"? MY DAUGHTER. He bit her ear. She came over, "mommy he bit me!" I checked her.. she was OK. Wasnt even red.. but REALLY? The kid was apparently...

this is.. sarcasm. obviously. I popped onto KSL.com this morning... local NBC news station.. and found this story: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=7427998 Can a family of 4 survive a week on $100 in groceries? Part 1 Uh... in an effort not to mince words I am going to simply say.. YEAH. HELL YEAH THEY CAN.There are plenty of families doing it for alot LESS. some highlights from the story: "Still the $100 challenge wasn't for everyone. "No, definitely not," said Lisa Gordon of Salt Lake City. She ha

So I figured out why I'm sick all the time now..

I'm lactose intolerant! I've drank soy milk for years.. not because I had to, but because I like it, and I think its healthier. Something about drinking milk from a cows udder just.. never caught me the right way, even as a kid. BUT- I started having breakfast regularly, as a promise to myself to be healthier (my old routine was skip breakfast, skip lunch, eat dinner, and go to bed... not healthy.) so I have been eating my Kashi with skim milk. Every day I have been feeling like crap! Sore stomach, indigestion, cramps... well... turns out, I cant have milk anymore! We had a treat a few...
