Everything else is small stuff by Steve Brown

Comments (1)
Steve's Letter: Everything Else is Small Stuff! A friend of mine sent me a copy of a letter submitted to the St. Petersburg Times (Florida) in response to the paper's query about how readers would "fix the economy."One letter was addressed to the President of the United States and suggested that, instead of giving billions of dollars to companies who will squander it, the president should send a million dollars to each person in America over a certain age in the work force. It would include millions of people. It sounds like, given the trillions that are being spent by the...

Have you done the spider dance?

Comments (2)
Today my husband did his first spider dance of the season.  A great big, fat disgusting orb weaver built her web right across our back doorway.  My husband ran right into it this morning.  He did that spastic "spider dance"  trying to remove web and/or spider for at least 5 minutes.  You know the spiders with the striped legs that build the big round beautiful webs everywhere this time of year? Usually   Right   Where   You   Least   Expect it!!! So, have you done your spider dance yet?

Broken Toys

Be the first to comment
As children bring their broken toys, with tears for us to mend; I brought my broken dreams to God because He was my friend But then instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone, I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own At last I snatched them back and cried, "How could you be so slow?" "My child," He said "what could I do?  You never did let go" -Author Unknown   How often we say we trust God and yet we cling to our pain with self-righteousness, like some well-deserved and justified trophy of what someone else has  done to hurt us.  We must...

Calling all Quizz-aholics!

Comments (3)
I admit it.  I love those stupid little meaningless quizzes.  I don't know why.  They waste a few minutes of my time, they are absolutely pointless, yet I cannot resist.  Here is a game we can play:  Take a quiz, copy and paste the results along with a link to the quiz and lets waste time acquiring meaningless information together!  Sounds like fun to me!  Please vote this popular.  I want to see a bunch of quiz results!  (And some more interesting quizzes to take.)  Thank you for wasting your time with me!

In Search Of Meaning

Be the first to comment
Do you feel that life has lost it's meaning?  What does life in this technological age do to our quality of life?  As a child there was magic and wonder at the world and all it contained.  There was a sense of promise of the future.  There were times we felt so free and limitless.  Somewhere along the way all of that gets lost.  How do we get it back? Today I listened to this http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Let_My_People_Think/archives.asp?bcd=1/4/2009 This is a message that I really needed to hear.  I really love what...

Hello I love you!

I just found my newest food love...Peppermint Peeps stars!  Oh wow!  I ate two and asked Jason to take them away so that I wouldn't eat them all.  I bought them with the intentions of sharing them with my girls who are peppermint lovers like their mama.  Jason tried one and deemed them too strong.  I was delighted, that means more for me.  I almost considered keeping this first package my little secret, but it's nearly Christmas...tis better to give than to recieve.  Does that include Peppermint Peeps?

Birthday parties=fun (no stress!)

Comments (1)
I don't really throw elaborate parties for my children's birthday.  I do make the cakes and icing and decorate them all myself which takes alot of time.  I tend to keep the everything else simple and easy.  I love doing the cakes and everyone gets a kick out of them, plus they're much tastier than some grocery store cake.  I usually throw together a simple loot bag, decorate the night before, arrange some activities and that's it.  The kid's are perfectly happy with their parties and love having a special custom made cake.

The real presence of presents

Comments (3)
I am one who believes that the best gifts are handmade or homemade, thoughtful, creative, and personal.  I don't like the exchanging of money and gift cards, especially at Chrsitmas.  I make mini scrapbooks or photo collages or something similar for Mother's Day and birthdays for the adults in my family.  Several years ago I made a photo collage for my mom and MIL and all the grandmothers that included a poem about grandparents.  I also make and decorate cakes or favortie desserts and goodies.  I love making gift baskets...
