Thanksgiving Ramblings

Comments (13)
This is a busy time of year for me.  I have tons of social events and traveling to do.  It is so much fun!  I love the hustle and bustle of the holiday.  I love to see people take the time to interact with one another. This also is a hard time of year because it is reminder of those we have lost.  My God Father, Roger, passed in a horrible car accident 6 years ago (the day before Thanksgiving).  It was a tragic death in an accident you can't imagine.  I remember his giving spirit and his fun attitude. The last time I saw my husband's grandmother was...

What would you do?

Comments (18)
I recently read a story about a woman that had two vaginas and two uteruses (uteri? uterusi?).  Click here.  My questions is how insane would you go if you had to deal with two of these things?  Would you try to keep both or would you have one removed? I find this whole thing so interesting.  I would love to hear your thoughts.

Answering questions with a question

Comments (14)
This is my philosophy for raising children.  I have some funny stories that go along with with this parenting technique.  I am going to skip the stories for today's serious post.  My daughter woke up this morning and started getting ready for school.  She walks up to me and tells me she has a question.  Me: Go ahead. Her: If a woman gets pregnant but doesn't want to be what happens? Me: What made you ask that question? Her: I just thought of it. Me: What

Child see. Children do.

Comments (25)
Our lives impact our children.  Children whose parents eat healthy, eat healthy.  Children whose parents are affectionate, are affectionate.  Children who see hitting, hit.  Children who hear screaming scream.  Children that live in a mess, are messy (issue in my house).  Children that see jealousy, are jealous.  Children that see anger, are angry. Children that see happiness, are happy.   Children who see faith, are faithful.  Children that are loved, love others.  This list can go on and on.  You will notice I didn't say...

Annoying Texters

Comments (36)
Public service announcement: I went to dinner with some friends last night and we were talking about texting.  This conversation comes up on a regular basis with many different people.  What is up with all the people that have to be connected at all times?  What is the point of socializing if you are going to spend half the time with your head tucked down, texting?  I text.  I don't have a problem with texting.  I do have issues if you text (or talk on the phone) at the dinner table, in meetings, or while driving.  It seems a little desperate to...

Space the final frontier?

Comments (3)
If you had the money would you spend the millions it cost to go up into space?  If not why?  Is it because there are better ways to spend money?  If so why?   This is the Cirque Du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte.  He spent 35 million to go into space.

Hello, I am Rebecca and I am a big dork.

Recently I have added a bunch of new music to my cafemom home page.  I have always just had 5 or 6 songs loaded. I like most genres music.  I had fun finding these songs and loading them. Ever since, I have surfed cafemom looking through my groups postings and playing games.  Every time I come to my page I think Oh I like that song.  Then the next song comes on and I think oh I like this one too.  I don't want to change the page.  It then dawns on me that I like all the songs on my page.  So what well duh/dork moments do you have? side note: Marble...

How much do dogs really know?

Comments (9)
Today I ran to target to return my wonder woman costume (don't ask) and a picked up a few odds and ends.  I decided to pick up a bone for my dog.  I forgot all about it when I got home.  I left the bag in the car.  Tonight she caught my eye.  I told her I got her something.  I walked to go get the bone out of the bag and she followed me.  I didn't call her.  She sat down and stared at me and started shaking with anticipation.  Let me tell you that my dog never follows me or sits and shakes.  Do you think animals are smarter than we...

What makes a good writer?

Comments (10)
I have always considered myself a garden-variety writer.  When I blog or journal it isn't to impress others but simply to communicate. So what makes one writer superior to another?  This is the question going around and around in my head. Technical writing is fundamental.  If the author is trying to convey a point they need to be able to make a coherent sentence.  This person needs the ability to edit themselves and spell. use spell check Is that enough?  Can the author get by on grammar and spelling alone?  I think not. I say no in loose terms. ...
