Life Lessons

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady. During my second month of college, our professorgave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:'What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?'Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen thecleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last questionblank. Just before class ended, one student asked ifthe last question would count toward our quiz grade....

Spanking is NOT Biblical!!

Comments (15)
I have been approached many many times by Christian parents who claim they feel it is their duty to spank their children and if they don't they are not obeying the Bible, however that simply is not true and here's why...."Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him." (Prov. 22:15) "He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him." (Prov. 13:24) "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save...

I am a ChristianWhen I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."I'm whispering "I was lost,Now I 'm found and forgiven."When I say... "I am a Christian"I don't speak of this with pride.I'm confessing that I stumbleand need Christ to be my guide.When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not trying to be strong.I'm professing that I'm weakAnd need His strength to carry on.When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not bragging of success.I'm admitting I have failedAnd need God to...

What Christian Leaders are saying...

Be the first to comment
Christianity ~ A Living, Growing FaithRemember the beautiful picture of creation in the Sistine Chapel which shows God the Father stretching out his hand to touch the finger of Adam? A parent's hand should likewise always be seen as extended in love. The outstretched hand should never cause a child to flinch in fear of a blow. Jesus taught the children with love and affection.Let the ancient misused line about "spare the rod and spoil the child" be discarded with other horror stories of old testament days, and terrible misinterpretations of Christian beliefs and practices....

ALL PARENTS NEED TO READ THIS!!

Comments (4)
These are PROVEN facts. Please read even if you agree with spanking as these are things you should keep in mind to avoid injury to your child..The physical dangers of hitting the buttocksEven relatively moderate spanking can be physically dangerous. Blows to the lower end of the spinal column send shock waves along the length of the spine, and may injure the child. The prevalence of lower back pain among adults in our society may well have its origins in childhood punishment. -  Jan Hunt, M.ScLocated deep in the buttocks is the sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in the body. A severe...

10 REASONS NOT TO HIT YOUR CHILD

Comments (3)
A friend of mine posted this on her journal.... Ten Reasons Not to Hit Your Kidsby Jan Hunt, M.Sc."Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims, may be the most oppressive. Those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."  - C.S. Lewis, 1952 In Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Croatia, Cyprus, Latvia, Italy, Israel, Germany and Austria, it is illegal for a parent, teacher, or anyone else to spank a child. In some states and provinces, it is only illegal for a...

Follow up to my post - THE NONVIOLENT CHRISTIAN PARENT

Comments (11)
I think there has been some misconception to what I am saying in my post. I am NOT saying that children should not be punished. I feel it is our duty and responsiblity to guide and lead them. I just don't feel the punishment should be in a "physical" form. Just as if I do something wrong at work or in society, I am punished but someone doesn't have to hit me to make me understand that it was wrong.   There are plenty of ways of punishing a child without hitting them, here are a few....Understand and fully accept your role. You are the parent in charge. You are...
