Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live!

A cafemom, LuvMySFSGT, Ashley lost her husband Shane last friday in a motorcycle accident. His funeral was today and while I couldn't see all of it because I had to get back to Taegen I saw a lot of it. In the pictures you could see that he loved fiercily and loved life. You could see that he loved Ashley and Skylie more than anything in this world. Ashley, you are remarkable. I don't know how you made it through today. You're a beautiful woman, I am sad that we had to meet under these circumstances, but I consider you a friend. You and Skylie are in my heart, my soul.. I am here if...

One bottle of formula may be too much for the breastfed baby...

The Case for the Virgin Gut Even the Occasional Bottle of Formula Has Its Risksby Ann Calandro, RNC, IBCLChttp://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=114390631688&h=BpmpT&u=dVmUA&ref=nf I have been a mother for 26 years. When my first daughter was born, I knew little about breastfeeding except that I wanted to "try" to be successful. I knew it was best. I planned on nursing for six weeks to give her a good start. She was born in Riverview Hospital in New Jersey in 1976. I waited impatiently to be allowed to see her every four hours for nursing. She arrived in my room...

Moving home in September....

Comments (4)
In august we are packing most of the house and putting it in storage. Then in September Taegen, Becka and I will make the 9 hour drive to FL. Aledx is deploying sometime around then and since our lease is up it makes sense. We will save a ton of money, and I wont have to move into a new place alone lol. :) It'll be fun, and crazy. I'm glad he doesn't have long deployments haha. So it wont be bad, but will be a long drive, and interesting staying with the inlaws again.'

Today I took Taegen in for a checkup. The pedi, who is REALLY wonderful and has never said anything rude about our UC or vaccine/test refusals, just wanted a follow up which didn't bother me, I wanted to ask about her stomach issues and possible thrush anyways. The appointment started out normal, and good. She was weighed and is now 10 lbs 6 oz! Holy crapola LOL. She was only 9 lbs 3 oz a week ago! We go to the room and the he checks her mouth, no signs of thrush and looks at the rash and agrees that it's heat rash which is what I thought. It's really bad around her neck and spread to her...

Myspace can bring families together!

Comments (6)
Many people don't like Myspace, but recently I have become quite fond of the networking site... it has done something amazing for my mother! My mother joined Myspace in April because she was relocating to San Antonio and her friend helped her create it so she could keep in touch. My mother had to move, her company closed down the offices she worked at and her options were relocate, or find a mediocre job with less pay. So she relocated... Less then a month on myspace and she receives two messages, that seemed like Karma was on her side! Here's some back story for you:29 years ago, when...

The unassisted home birth of Taegen Savela! edite

Wow! I can't believe I am writing her birth story. It's amazing. I am exhausted but figured I should write it all down now, before I don't feel up to it! I woke up this morning, at around 430 am. Becka had slept fabulously, but I had awoken sporadically with contractions, and having to use the bathroom. It was normal though. For two weeks it had been like this on and off. At 430 am I decided to get out of bed. The contractions were a bit more consistent and I began wondering if this was it! I didn't want to get my hopes up though. At 530 am I decided to warn Alex that he may need to call...

40w4days...

Comments (12)
Man. I am 40w4d pregnant. I have never been this pregnant before! I am surprised by how much I love it! I have been having what feels like prodromal labor for the last couple of weeks. The contractions are very misleading. I begin to think I am in labor, and then they stop haha. It's funny! I do try and ignore them, but they get painful to where I have to stop and breath and focus! Today they started in my back too! They are more intense today, and yesterday, so maybe that's a good sign! Alex still hopes it happens today or tomorrow so he wont have to go to work Tuesday haha. I say baby...

Who *owns* the word rape?

Comments (8)
I am deeply saddened by women on cafemom, the recent popular poll has caught be by complete surprise. While I knew there were women here who were very mainstream and callous I never realized to what extent. This goes far beyond the breastfeeding/formula feeding or vaccine debates that we have on here. This actually goes on to try and *own* the rights to the word rape, and whether one person's sexual rape was more traumatic than another person's birth rape. It's disgusting how some women want to say *mine was worse* or *you can't compare* or how even the sheer fact that birth rape is a term...
