If you or your hubby like the Pittsburgh Pirates, I have a blog for you. My husband has started a new blog called The Pittsburgh Pirates Return to Greatness. He has always been a great Pirates fan, for better or worse. He has his eyes on the future of the team and believes that someday they will again win a championship. He will be following up and coming players from the minors who he believes will be the saving grace of the Pittsburgh Pirates.Stop on over and check him out!http://pittsburghpiratesreturn.blogspot.com/

The mood at our house tonight is positively giddy! With a pretty young, but determined team, the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup! The Pens beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in game seven of the playoffs. This young team played their hearts out tonight! Our captain Sidney Crosby left the ice in the first period with a mid-section injury only to return for a short time in the third. The team stepped up and carried on. The game came down to the wire with Detroit almost tying the game with only seconds left to play. A hurting, but smiling Sid raised the cup with ease,...

I bring you another member of the Super League of Weirdos.
As you can see, Cheese Burgur has a marvelous mustache, a beard and a uni brow. According to my son, Cheese Burgur got his uni brow when he was five years old. It is super sensitive and lets him know when people are in danger. He got his bulging muscles from making rude noises with his armpits...you know the ones...every seven year old boy knows how to make them. And that's just how old this Weirdo is...seven. He got his name because someone else took the name Hot Dog. That's all there is.

Last September I decided to make a "leap of Faith" as I call it, and become Catholic. My husband is Catholic and we were married in the Catholic church 11 years ago. Never once has he tried to get me to become Catholic. He even tried attending his Grandfather's church, which was Presbyterian just to please me.
Something just wasn't right. We started missing church more and more. I just seemed like a chore to get up and get ready for church. My heart wasn't in it. I felt guilty, but I also couldn't focus on the sermon for some reason. Something had to be done.
I told my husband I...

My seven year old has been drawing for as long as I can remember. I think he started drawing really detailed stuff when he was about four. He used to ask me to draw for him, and I can barely put together a decent stick figure.
I would tell him "You draw it"
and he would say "I can't"
so I told him " just think about what shapes make up what you want to draw and go from there"
Well he went alright! Here is his latest drawing.

Today was a very special day at church. The second graders in our parish celebrated their First Holy Communion. I do not have a child celebrating this sacrament just yet. My son will celebrate next year.
It was so nice! Our priest took time and told each one of them how beautiful or handsome they looked. He asked each one to tell who bought the wonderful new clothes they were wearing. His entire sermon was straight to them. He walked along the pews where they sat, making eye contact with them as he talked. He told about the beautiful sacrament they were about to receive. It was if he...

In our area of the country, spring should have sprung weeks ago. Much to our dismay, we had a dusting of snow the first week in April! Ugh! The weather has been quite chilly with a warm day thrown in here and there just for a tease.
Just a gentle reminder, as the warm weather approaches, don't forget the sunscreen! The warm days they are calling for soon make us want to run out the door with reckless abandon and enjoy spring in full bloom. As last weekend proved, even a slightly sunny day can bring out the "red neck" in us all. The hubby's neck, and my chest were slightly burned as...
