I just wanted to say that if I'm driving in my car, and you're a pedestrian crossing the street or parking lot, and I stop for you (as I should!) and you see me and do that little hustle thing to cross the street faster (which you are not required to do), I really appreciate that.Just sayin.

The other day I bought a swimsuit. I got a medium because I am medium in size. I didn't want to try it on in the store because I was on a date night with my husband and didn't want to depress myself by looking at my post-partum stomach in the mirror.I got it home, tried it on, and realized that parts of me that used to be pretty small and manageable are now giant (and lopsided, but we won't get into that) due to me currently breastfeeding two kids. This suit was obscene. The tiny triangles sewn to the top were just not leaving enough to the imagination. So back I went, grabbed a few that...

Aside from the little "are you pooping?" "no *grunt*" white lies, my son just made up his first whopper last night. It was bittersweet, or bittercute, or something. He runs around half-naked all the time now that he's pretty much potty trained. My husband and I were telling him to go find his underwear so we could put it back on him. It was three feet from where we were sitting, me nursing the baby, my husband watching television. For whatever reason, he couldn't (or wouldn't) see them. After several trips out "looking," my son came back to me and informed me that his underwear had driven...

My dad bought this tiny bag of caramel corn drizzled with chocolate,
and it was kind of expensive but so good! His birthday is today, so I
thought, I can make him some of that stuff! Here's what I did:Preheat the oven to 275 FMake
1 cup of popcorn. You can heat it a little at a time in 2 Tbsp oil in a
pan over high heat, or airpop it, or make two bags of microwave popcorn
and take a little out.Grease a roasting pan or two cake pans, and put the popcorn in them in the oven to keep it warm. You'll need:1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar3/4 cup butter1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons light corn syrup1/2...

I mean formally, pre-school-like stuff. My son Kalten just turned two. My husband goes to school in the evenings, and Kalten was sad that he was always leaving, and curious about what he was doing. I asked if he wanted to do school too and he said yes.He has known every letter of the alphabet since he was 15 months old, and now he knows the sounds they make, as well as a few sight words. I have not been pushing him to learn anything; in fact, I was blown away when he told me all the letters. He loves the website starfall.com and I guess that's where he learned everything. He is like a...

I made these as donations to a benefit fundraiser. I like them so much, I'm making more to put in my Etsy store. Click any picture to go to the listing.

Paul came home at 2am the other day and told me he was laid off. We were sort of anticipating it so it's not a complete surprise. There's no substitute for seniority in the factory. The plant manager made it a point to tell him he was a great employee.I don't work either. He's going to get unemployment but it's not all that much. And we were suddenly uninsured, with a 2-year-old and a 3-week-old.I have ordered a box from Angel Food for March. I applied for state insurance for the kids. I canceled my 6-week postpartum appointment, Coen's 2-month checkup, and Kalten's appointment with the...

but she made me an airplane instead!
Remove long flaps, tape back on sideways. Cut rectangle out of one short flap to create steering column. Cut 3" slit in center of other short flap. Cut 3" slit in rectangle, 2" from one end, and push onto back flap to create tail.
Tape a block under wing to keep it from drooping.

Birthday crack!Erm... I mean cracker candy.
I had no eggs to make a cake, no frosting to frost it.
Yes those are RICE KRISPIES that spell out HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALTEN. I carefully placed them one by one WHILE nursing a baby. I also ran out of saltine crackers and ended up with a Club cracker and four Ritz's in there.Saltine Cracker Candy1+ sleeve saltine crackers1 cup butter1 cup brown sugar1 large bag chocolate chips (12 oz)Preheat oven to 375 F. Line a baking pan with foil, spray the foil with no-stick spray. Lay the crackers out on the pan in a single layer with sides touching. Boil the...
