I hate confrontations and rude people

Be the first to comment
I'm not a confrontational person. I hate to be angry but hate it more when people get rude, especially when it's aimed at me. Today it happened to me. I was trying to be helpful, courteous, in my view. See, I work at a hospital. The nurses on my service go up on the floors to make rounds with the doctors.  As I was entering the data on the patient in our office, I found out it was a re-admission we already followed. Someone already seen, treated, and released. It wasn't necessary for the nurse to do anything further with the patient. And we took it out of our registry.  ...

Reflection, the fall season of my life

Comments (1)
With these dogdays of summer, I'm looking forward to fall coming, whenever that may hit.  I'm so weary of these constant over-100-degree temperatures that we've encountered this year. I think we've broken some record. Usually in my neck of the woods, here in Central Texas, a cold front might pass through sometime around or after Halloween. The way this month of August is zipping, it won't be long till we see Halloween decorations around the block. I would say in stores, but i was at the Dollar General the other day and they have already begun putting out Halloween stuff on...

I felt insulted at the Senior student orientation today

Comments (5)
Today I had to take my daughter for her school orientation. You know.. where they buy t-shirts, pay for lunches ahead or get the forms for the free/reduced lunches, pick up their schedules, get information as needed for the upcoming year.  Sounds like something geared up for an upper elementary student or for a new high school freshman. Nope. It was for my high school SENIOR.  I was coereced to sit down and listen to a speach about not bringing electronics to school (cell phones, ipods), the current dress code, the recent school scores in the state, how the normal booklet of...

Back from vacation

Comments (1)
I'm back from a week long vacation traveling about Texas. We left on Monday and didn't return until late Friday evening. We averaged about 1000 miles round trip, going to Galveston, cutting down to Aransas Pass/ Corpus Christi, skirting our way to Padre Island, zigging across to San Antonio and then skipping through Burnett, Marble Falls, Johnson City, Fredericksburg and back into Bell county. Whew! What a journey. We checked out Joe's Crab Shack and scrunched down on some crab meat and shrimp. We ate fish sandwiches. We tried out Tai Food at a gorgeous restaurant in Corpus Christi....

Memories of mine about Farrah and Michael

Comments (2)
Two persons from my generation have recently passed on. Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. While everyone knew about one's brave battle over cancer, the sudden heart attack of a pop king took everyone by storm. Still, these two individuals faced fame from two different walks of life. Many people have opinions about them. To each their own, but for now, as I turn fifty this year, I want to stop and reflect upon them as I did when I was a teenager. I watched in awe of Farrah on Charlie's Angels. She was the "IT" girl, with beautiful hair and long legs. She was a natural beauty and seemed...

Support the Protect our Children Act, currently underfunded and in danger of losing!

I watched the Oprah Winfrey show yesterday afternoon (June 12th, 2009). John Walsh, the man behind America's Most Wanted show, was a special guest. About two decades ago, his  son Adam had been abducted from a department store. Then they found his son's head in a canal in Florida. His body has never been found. After many years, they learned who had done this hideous crime, a man already convicted as a sexual predator. John Walsh has done so much to find criminals of such hideous crimes of children. He even organized legislature to pass a bill to get these offenders, once out of...

A busy few weeks ahead for me

So much happening with my family right now. My youngest daughter is going to summer school for a whole month, all of June. Her freind from Germany is coming at the end of June for a 3 1/2 week visit. Katrin is flying in on the 29th with her dad, and so we'll be hosting them and they'll be sight seeing Texas and plan to go to the coast in July. We will go with them for a week.  In the meantime, my mom is having hand surgery this coming Friday. Fortunately my hubby will be helping out with that so I can save up some pto time at work. I'm going to need it to go the coast. He has...

Why not the simple things?

Comments (1)
I've been off work the past couple of days, mostly because it happened to be my 3rd anniversary on the 27th. My hubby and me always try to take some time off just for ourselves, whether we go off somewhere romantic or not. Of course we try to do something fun, but economics lately doesn't help. Still we do things we enjoy, like barbecuing or fishing. Or just watching movies together. The point is spending quality time, right? Anyway, I also got a little time in to catch up on reading, in books or seeing what's on the Internet. I'm a big fan of looking at stuff about celebrities. They live...

A personal peak at my new book sequel

Be the first to comment
My sequel is available for purchase now. It's thrilling and scary to share it with the world. You wonder if it will be well accepted. I had a copy of it on my desk and so on Friday night, I picked a spot half way through and began to read, without nitpicking it to death as an editor would. What a read! I couldn't put it down and I already knew how it would end! LOL..I was so caught up in the drama, the emotion of the characters, and the situations.  I smiled, I laughed, I frowned and I cried, taken into the plot and being with them as if I walked in their shoes. That's the...

Adding insult to injury, another ouch to bear

Comments (1)
Well on Monday I wrote on my journal about my dentist experience, where they poked and prodded on two back molars. I ended up feeling lousy that night afterwards. Ever since then, I had these fathom pangs in my back tooth, every time I ate or opened up my jaw. All week long, my gums feel irritated by the temporary crowns. They feel rough on the bottom edges that sit atop my gums. I prayed and prayed that the twinges I felt were not the roots of the teeth, because I certainly didn't want to go back to get a root canal done after that horrible two hour experience on Monday. To add...
