Our community is doing a weight loss challenge to anyone who wants to form a team to participate. A local business started it by offering to donate $1 to a local food bank, for every pound lost. My bank decided to put together a team, so here I am. I'm really quite excited about it. My bank is donating $1 dollar for every pound lost on our team. I've gained 25 pounds since July (I am an emotional/stress eater). It's gonna go for 13 weeks.
We did our weigh in this past Wednesday. (Team weights are being published, not individual). I don't have the total weight of our team, (I'll get it...

Wow, I can't wait to see this movie! I wish my family could see it, too. My mother recently visited for a week, and because I recycle, try to by organic (when I have the money too), no preservatives, care about the safety of non-food products I buy, try to buy only American... she labeled me as an extremist and said I needed to stop and buy more convenience foods for my husband and kids etc... I love my mother very much, but I wish she would let me do my thing... I'm not trying to convert her over to my way of thinking.

Today over half of my three year old son's toy trains are being recalled for excessive lead hazard. That is practically all he plays with! They are made by First Learning Company and are made in China. I didn't know where they were made because they are not marked, and I bought them second hand. So I also don't have the UPC which is how the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is identifying them. They are the same set, with a couple of color differences. All the wooden tracks look pretty much the same, and are mixed in with other brands of tracks he has. I can pull...

I found a great recipe for Corn Bread. It is really good. If you don't tell people it's whole wheat flour, they'd never be able to tell. Just make sure to use whole wheat PASTRY flour, not regular whole wheat. I used the buttermilk substitute and it turned out fine. It is one tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar and enough milk to make a cup. I used fat free milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes.1/3 c honey1 egg1 c buttermilk4 T melted butter or oil (I used butter, but olive would be healthier)1/2 t baking soda1 c corn meal (I use King Arthur's Pure Stoneground, not enriched)1...

I have been teaching my son (3) to write his name. I will write his name with light dots and he will trace over it. We say each letter as we write it. This morning I sat the kids down to draw pictures for Daddys and Grandpa and Grandmas stockings. I was planning on just helping him by guiding his hand when he signed it (like I usually do). He was like, no! I can to it. I said the letters with him and he wrote his name all on his own! I'm so excited and proud! Then on the backside of the page he continued drawing. He pulled over a chair and put the picture under a magnet on the fridge. He...

I woke up this morning to my son standing beside my bed with a black permanent marker in his hand. All proud of himself he says "I draw on the walls, Mommy." Dread filled me and this is what I found... (these are not small drawings by the way) My Freezer in our Dining Room...What do I do? The walls can be painted, but what do I do about the freezer? I already tried Magic Eraser and this is what it looks like after that...It is still a dark blue (darker than the picture). Please all you moms out there I need your help! Is there anything else I can try? My husband is...
