My husband and I are both home-school graduates, we LOVED being home-schooled. Our son is only about 91/2 months old right now, but I definitely look forward to homeschooling him and all of our future children.

i cant say i would never homeschool...but i would prefer my kids to go to "real" school for the socialization. ive known alotta homeschooled kids & they were all odd (except one). im not saying all homeschooled ppl are odd, just the ones ive met (could just be the area i lived in).
but if the schools in my area were horrid or my kid had needs the school couldnt meet, then i would homeschool.

I know I don't have the patience or knowledge to homeschool, but I do give brownie points to the women who do.

The reason I posted this poll is because I've had problems with my daughter's school. At the begining of the year her teacher told me that she was above grade level and the teacher has done nothing about it even after telling them that I would like my daughter to be chalenged more. All they have done is take my daughter out of the class while the other kids are learning and my daughter goes and plays games. I thought kids went to school to learn. I've also spoken to the principle and they said that she has to be in 3rd grade in order for her to be put in a gifted program and she's only in first grade. My daughter feels bored at school because she says that they teach silly stuff that she already knows. I just don't know what to do.

other, depends on the kids and the school system, i want my child to go to school with other kids and know you learn a lotta socialization but if i am faced with a bad system that is teaching him the wrong things i would rather homeschool.

My kids have been totally homeschooled (unschooled, actually) and we love, love, LOVE it! Most of the things that people worry about, like socialization, are not an issue for us. I don't think it's for everyone though. You really have to weigh your feelings about it, take a good hard look at your situation, and consider all your options. Good luck with your decision!

If I need to I will. I would prefer they go to public school but if its not a good school system or its super unsafe then Id rather homeschool them.

I voted never. Not that I am against the idea of homeschooling, I think it's great. I am not an educator and I do not think I would do it successfully.

"I just don't know what to do."

I'd just suggest you look into it a little more. Look up the laws for your state, contact some state-wide & local support groups, research teaching methods & curriculums, etc. One of the first things you'll discover is that socialization (or the "dreaded 'S' word" is we like to call it) is the LEAST of a homeschooler's concerns. :-)

You can always do it on a trial run & if it's not for you, re-enroll her. And believe me, it's NOT for everybody! lol

My kids are 10, 6, 5, & 21 months --- none have ever been to 'school' -- and they never will.

You can PM me if you want more info & I can get you some good websites & resources to get you started in your research.
