I breastfed all 3 of my kids. My 4 year old daughter pretends to breast feed her baby dolls while playing house. (she covers up and everything and does NOT put the baby under her shirt) Should I discourage her from doing this? Im torn...

Children act out in play what they see in the adult world. It is perfectly normal and a wonderful way to prepare her for her possible future roll as a mother.

She is just pretending to feed the baby...some little girls use little baby bottles some use their boobies....no big deal.

My youngest is 2 and does this,I'm glad that she has learned the right example.I too have breastfed all of mine,I think it is perfectly natural for her to role play this way. After all do you feel "torn" if you see her bottle feeding her dolls? Breast feeding is just milk for babies...there's no reason for you to feel bad about that.

why would you discourage her? she's just doing what she has seen and i'd say you've set a wonderful example for her to learn from... good job mama!

I think it's totally SWEET when kids do that! She is just learning, the way 4 year olds do, about how to take care of a baby - by emulating what she sees you do. Discouraging her from doing it when she knows that's how you feed a baby would probably just confuse her.

Definitely don't discourage it!! Breastfeeding is completely natural and it's great that she's pretending!!
