Description:
I'm just wondering if any of you mamas quit using a baby monitor after awhile. Our baby's going to be 10 months old on Dec. 22nd. Sometimes he'll whimper through the night, but we let him fall back asleep on his own. I despise the buzzing sound of the monitor & would LOVE to just not use it. DH insists though & I think he'll want to keep using the baby monitor until our son is 50! LOL

We had our son in our room until he was about 3 months old. We then moved to a new house and he had a room of his own, this was the first it I even used the monitor, and I didn't sleep all night! I'm just too light a sleeper to hear my son's breathing all night. I used it that one time and that was it, his room was caddy-corner to ours so I could easily hear if he woke up.

i used mine for naps until it died. i lived in a three story house and if i did the laundry in the basement i could not hear when he would yell...i slept in the bedroom next to my son so i didnt ever use it at nite, if his crying wakes you up, you dont really need it. i just used it when he was outta earshot.

We used it in our apartment, but once we moved to our house we stopped cause her room was across the hall from us. She was 4 months old then.

we co-slept so the only time I used one was if I had to run downstairs to grab laundry or something like that

I still use the baby moniter with my son and he is 3 years and 2 months old. We live in a double wide trailer and he room is on the opposite side of the house. If he was closer we wouldn't use it but there has been night I have woken up to the sound of him throwing up and I have been so happy that I still used the moniter b/c I would have never known.

We used one from the time our first child was born until she was about 3 but that was because we had 2 other kids in that time. Our youngest (#3) at the time was about 6 months old when the monitor broke. I don't know why but we never replaced it. I think it was because we had such a hard time finding one that would work with all the airport interference we have. Instead my husband slept in the living room (outside the kids' rooms) until she was 1 and we were sure she was sleeping through the night.
We never used one with our youngest. The place we were living at was small enough that I could hear her crying from any where in the apartment. She's 2 1/2 now.

It all depends on the layout (and how sound travels) in your house, and your kiddo's needs.

Get a Sony Baby Call monitor. It has a voice-activated setting that is completely silent unless the baby cries.

I've used a TV monitor since my DD went into her own room. I use it for every nap and overnight. I can't imagine NOT using it. I feel better and sleep better knowing I can take a peek at her without having to get up. Since I can see her on the TV monitor, I don't always have to run up and check on her as soon as she begins to cry. I can watch her and most times she settles herself without me having to enter her room. I joke with my DH that I will use this monitor until she turns 18!
