I was saying this at our local xmas parade Saturday night. Everyone else was saying merry xmas. My 3 yr old DD started saying Happy Holidays. Guess Im raising her to be politically correct! Here on cafemom, my siggy says "Merry Xmas, Blessed Yule, Happy Holidays!"

No greeting with the genuine intent of good will is offensive to me.

To me it's not offensive unless it was intended to try to offend me. Example: I told my cashier at Wal-Mart the other day before I left "Merry Christmas" and she gave me a dirty look and then a snarky grin and said "Happy Holidays". That was offensive to me and upset me, but usually I just take it for what it means.

Happy Holidays is like every other greeting out there. I say Merry Yule or something along those lines, my family says Merry Christmas, some say happy Hanukkah, and Merry Kwanzaa.. so on and so forth.

Nah, it's fine. I say Merry Christmas, but if I know someone definitely *isn't* Christian, I'll say Happy Holidays. I send out Merry Christmas cards, but to my friends that are married to non-Christians, I send Happy Holidays cards. That's all :)

Why would it be offensive? This is the time of year where there are many wonderful holidays. It's nice to include all of them.

No..If you are wishing me well I don't take offense. If you are only trying to be politically correct then the "well wishes" don't seem very geniune...

It doesn't 'offend' me - but I say Merry Christmas. I think that being "politically correct! " in this case is extremely phony!! Regardless of how the date came about - December 25th is the celebration of the birth of Christ. I'm not going to pretend that it isn't so as not to offend someone.

I was sent an email that addressed people wanting to take 'Christ' out of Christmas and make it a non-religious holiday. It said that those people should be the ones to work the Holiday. Great idea, in  my opinion. LOL
