Description:
I had no problems getting pregnant with my first child (it was kind of a surprise). Now me and my hubby are trying for our second. We have been trying for 10 months now and nothing. I heard that if you dont get pregant within one year of trying (for the first child) you are considered infertal (I dont know if that holds true for a second child). I am a little worried because I have heard of a condition where you can have one child but you cant get pregnant a second time.

How long did it take you to become pregnant with your second child (while actually trying)?

  • Wasn't trying, it just happened

    30%
  • 1-4 months

    24%
  • 5-8 months

    4%
  • 9-12 months

    2%
  • over a year

  • Only have one child

    26%

I've tried calendars and temperatures and some other ways to "track" ovulation (which I wont go into any detail ;) )

    Hey Jen,
All I know is that you are most fertile 2 weeks after having your period. There's a group on here about TTC (trying to concieve) you should join, they have all kinds of calenders and stuff. Love you and tell Miss Ashley me and Joel love her too.
And here's some baby dust! Soon Joel will have another little cousin to play with!

Sometimes the more you try, the harder it is. Stress can do crazy things to your body. Good Luck!!

It took 14 months for me to become pregnant with my first biological child. I took clomid for 7 months with NO luck. Dr. took me off the meds to run tests and that same month I got pregnant.

We are going to TTC this summer 2009. I fear the same thing that is happening to you. We didn't even try for our first. Oh well, we'll see, I guess!

If you haven't yet had someone pass it on to you, then get the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It is worth the extra effort to go get. You won't be asking these questions the same. Hopefully it will clear up a lot of misnomers. At the very least you will learn A LOT about yourself that you never knew to know! (I got mine off amazon.com for about $10 with S&H) Good luck.

It took us 4 months with my first child and this time around it took almost a year and a half...we found out that the problem was actually on my husband's end this time. You might have your hubby see his dr for a check-up. But as hard as it was, the thing that got me through the waiting and wondering was when a friend of mine told me that God knows the amount of time that I need between each child. My son has always been a handful...great kid, just busy, rowdy and loud! I'm not the most patient person. He's 3 and will turn 4 a month after the baby is born. It really gave me peace knowing that God had it all under control. He knows what we can handle and what life will hold. Just be patient, trust in Him and keep trying! It will happen when it's supposed to.

21 months it took us to conceieve my daughter (my 2nd child).

With my miscarriage (1st pregnancy) and my oldest son I got pregnant right away.

Then we started ttc # 2 and it just wasn't happening. About 8 months into it I went to my OB's fertility specialist. I was dx'd with PCOS and over the next months tried several fertility treatments. In month 20 I had done my 2nd round of Clomid and decided to call it quits... I wasn't willing to take any other types of fertility meds and did not want to do Clomid anymore. Much to our surprise we got pregnant on our own the next month.

So I had my daughter and when she was 8 months old we decided to ttc baby # 3 and I got my BFP only 2 weeks after deciding to ttc.

    Go figure!?!?!?
