I am a small business owner. If my business fails I am the one responsible. I wouldn't expect to be bailed out! Besides, what does it say if even the banks won't give a business a loan?

I think we have a GREAT opportunity here to influence the industry that has shoved big trucks and SUVs down our throats through endless advertising. Give me a fuel efficient mini-van! Give me something homemade that competes well against a hybrid Honda Accord (LOVE the trunk space)! I don't think we can let them sink just because so many regular working families and small businesses are connected to them and we need to keep manufacturing jobs in the U.S. somehow.

As much as I like a free handout, I like capitalism and my freedom a lot more.

I don't see why the government should be in the business of bailing out anyone, period.

Let the companies sink or swim. Same for families too. It's not the govt's problem if you got yourself into a mess by buying a bunch of crap you can't afford. I support the extension of unemployment and other benefits for people who've lost their jobs, but I'm opposed to any efforts to help people avoid foreclosure on mortgages that were INSANE in the first place.

Regarding the hybrid minivans, Toyota is supposed to be coming out w/ a hybrid Sienna, if it's not out already. I can't see spending nearly $40, 000 on a vehicle though. In many rural areas of the US, that's more than the average house costs.
