Never hyphenate. I would reconsider Joyce as the first name. That name falls in with Phyllis, Barbara, Pearl, Winifred, too outdated for a cute girl, fine for a middle name though. I would stick Elizabeth as the first name

I want joyce as a first name because it was my dh's late aunt's name. And my dd;s middle name is hyphenated.

The whole name has meaning to me. Joyce is my dh's late aunt name, Lucille is my dh's late grandmas name and Elizabeth is my MIL's name. That is why i chose it. And they are beautiful names.

I don't like the way hyphenated names look. Fine for last names, but just doesn't look right for first and middle names.

I have my DD's name hyphenated on her birth cert.

I also have my last legally hyphenated because I have a child from each marriage.

Our daughter has 2 middle names and we did not hyphenate. I think hyphenating strings them together and for us both middle names have different but important meanings.
