Description:
Our DD (6 3/4) is preternaturally aware of all the different bedtimes of all her friends....it's her favorite topic. Just for the record - she's in bed at 7:15 and our three year old hits the hay at 6:30.

(And yes, Mr. Franklin was right - they are VERY early risers, but that's what works for us. No complaining and no rushing in the morning! )

Bedtime Quick Poll... DH & I both WOH so we believe in early bedtimes. I've seen quite a few different times around CafeMom and was just wondering where everyone fell...

I think 7pm and earlier bedtimes are silly but that's my opinion. In summer it's not even dark yet.

My kindergartner goes to bed between 9 and 10 and is up at 6:50, he has always had this bedtime and it has worked out nicely for him. My almost 3 year old goes to bed around 8:30 and is up at 7:15. It really just depends on the child and what the child needs. Some need more sleep than others. But what bothers me is when people use early bed time just so they don't have to deal with their children. I've known some folks who do that consistently, it drives me crazy.

My kids are all in bed and asleep by 7:30 pm, except for the baby, and he's usually asleep by 8pm. They are all early risers (6-6:30 am) regardless of what time they go to bed at night. If I let them stay up, they still get up at 6 AND they are crabby all day.

Mine are in bed at 8pm and up at 6:30am to get my oldest to the bus stop (I have to take them all... bus stop's not too close to my house, so they all have to get up, get dressed, get fed and go...).

Their bed times have varied quite a bit over the years as their needs changed. And varied from kid to kid as well...

My kids are 8, 7, 6 and 2 and bedtime on school nights is 7pm. They are usually asleep by 8pm. It's been like that since they were toddlers. They have to get up at 6:40 to start getting ready for school and they need about 12 hours of sleep to not be total monsters (they get about 10-11 hours right now). We tried later bedtimes but all it did was make mornings miserable because none of them wanted to get up.
On the weekends and in the summer they stay up as late as they want...or until 10:30, which ever comes first. Usually the 2yo is in bed by 8pm no matter what.

our 6 year old was going to bed at 9pm, but he was starting to drag in the morning, so we changed it to 8:30pm... he gets up at 8am every day... our baby goes to bed between 9-12 at night... i would love if she went down for the night at 9pm, but she usually wakes up and plays for awhile... our oldest son (15) goes to bed whenever he wants... early bedtimes don't work for our family... our 2 oldest kids play baseball and games aren't even over in order to get our kids to bed early, plus school programs start around 7 for our first grader... i am not a morning person, so the waking up at 8am is fine for me...

My 4- and 2-year-old go bed at 7 and get up between 6:30 and 7. If they go to bed much later, they're crabby the next day.

My kids have always been early risers. No matter when we put them to bed they are up at 5:30 to 6:00 every single morning for 2 years. So depending on if they have a nap they go to bed aroung 7 or 7:30. But if the havent had a nap they go around 6 0r 6:30. oh and they are 3yrs and 2yrs. But it works out ok because me hubby and i have to be up at 4 m so we normally go to bed around 8 or 9 anyways
