Description:
This point to ponder came up in another poll topic. If we, as Christians, believe that same sex marriage is a sin and therefore should be illegal where do we draw the line? If you believe/or want America to be a Christian nation, will we make all sins illegal and therefore punishable by law? Is there a difference between sentencing two gay men or sentencing someone caught lying or committing adultery? If we are basing our laws on the bible, shouldn't then the Athiests, Wiccans, and Muslims be locked up for breaking the first commandment? As always, PLEASE keep it civil. If you are one who is offended simply by anothers disagreement in your opinion than this poll probably isn't for you.

Do you believe homosexual marriage should be illegal based on biblical/christian beliefs? (and therefore punishable by law)

  • Yes, it's a sin

    26%
  • Yes, it's harmful to society

    7%
  • No, it's not a sin

    10%
  • No, mind your own business

    55%

God has blessed us with free will. No matter what a person does it is not up to me to judge it is between them and God and he will be there judge and jury. I have no right to tell a person what to belive anymore than they have a right to tell me. Yes, I believe that certain things are a sin because God tells me that but he says it is not up to me to judge it is up to him. I look at it as a kid tattletelling on a sibling.

American is not a Christian Nation. Seperation of church & state... our govt does not create laws based on any one religion.

1st Amenement: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

From the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993: "The Congress finds that--(1) the framers of the Constitution, recognizing free exercise of religion as an unalienable right, secured its protection in the First Amendment to the Constitution..."

It would be nice IF there was a real separation of church and state, but Christian morals do play a big part in most of our laws. Do I think that is right? No of course not. Do I think the gay life style is a sin? Yes, but as a Muslim it is not my place or right to judge any one. I do however feel that gay people should have the same legal rights as straight people, just as do white, black, male ,female, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Pagans etc. This is America....

I second what allgirls said. It's not up to me to judge. This is why it is good to be tolerant of all beliefs. If we judge others' sins, then we are playing God. And I don't think that's what Christians are supposed to do.

I couldn't really answer the poll though because none of the choices applied to me.

I couldn't vote as there was no answer I agreed with. I personally believe God created freewill for all, therefore people have the right to do as they please. However, due to my religious belief that homosexuality is a sin, I can't support it. Therefore, if I'm asked to vote or my opinion, I am against it. With that said, I will not judge anyone who chooses that lifestyle. I am not free of sin to be judging anyone. Also, I don't believe they should be charged with a crime.

The answer I wanted to put wasn't an option. No; homosexuality is a sin, but it shouldn't be punishable by law.

I picked the "no, mind your own business answer". I haven't done enough research to find out if the bible actually forbids it in the new testament.  Even if it does, I believe it is none of my business what another individual chooses to do.

I said mind your own business because i believe every America has the right to marry someone of legal age even if they are the same sex. Last century they had laws against whites and blacks marrying. hopefully we will have equal rights for all Americans

The answer I chose I wasn't intending to say "punishable by law"...but part of the answer was something I agreed with so I chose it. But anyway, just clarifying that.
