I was looking around on cm and foun that some people actaully do this, i did some reasearch and i have heard of it as a pagan ritual but i guess it is becoming more common now for non pagans as well.. what do you think ?

what do you think about this new practice where women EAT THER OWN PLACENTA to help with ppd.. yes you read correctly... and i just gagged writing this..

    That actually isn't a new practice, it's just now become trendy.

    There is nothing new about it. :) I didn't do it, but it's not like you just eat it raw. People will bake it to dry it out, then powder it and put it in capsules or make a tincture with alcohol. There are recipes for placenta lasagna and stuff like that on the internet that I think are a little iffy...but to each his own.

    It has been around a LONG time, the "hippies" used to do this in their camps, they'd make a stew out of it .... It's known to be healthy for the mother but, IMO OMG EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW GROSS LOL

    I'd do it but not as a meal or anything, that's too weird for me. If I had issues with postpartum bleeding after birth I'd do it.

    Have you seen that thing it looks like a raw beef roast. Just doesnt sound right.,would you drink your water when it broke??blagh

    saw a history channel thing about it. it was really interesting and goes back centuries. its suppose to be high in protien. i thought it was pretty cool.

    You know....I'm pretty open-minded, and I am fine with the things other people do (well, as long as no one is victimized) but the thought of this absolutely turns my stomach.

    I have heard of that, it's definitley not new. I wouldn't do it, but I don't really have an opinion about anyone else doing it.
