DON'T tell anyone your husbands secret. He trusts you and that would be a huge betrayal. Talk to your husband. Tell him that you are worried about your BIL's son. He has to come forward himself, you can't do it for him or he'll never trust you. It's really hard to admit abuse, even though we all know it wasn't your husband's fault it's still scary and shameful for him to admit. You have to treat this situation very carefully. Start by talking to your husband. If he is resistant try to really talk to him about it as much as you can because you are right, it is wrong to leave a child in the home of a known child molester. Statutes of limitations will keep your husband from being able to press charges, but maybe he can contact a social worker and have them check in on your nephew?

i agree! talk to your husband, act before he even gets the change to molest. even his brother hasnt done anything like that in years there is always a chance he might again. think of it this way, if he would have gotten caught way back when the laws we have now would keep him away from children. he needs to be evaluated asap!

i agree about talking to your husband first and seeing how he feels about it... also a call should be made to child welfare and can be done anonymously...

it would depend on how old the brother was when this happened and how long ago it was. There are a lot of things to consider. Talk to your husband and see how he feels

Wait everyone, don't jump to thinking this man is a child molester. he was a young stupid boy when he did this, I think your husband should confront his big brother, and talk to him about what had happened and tell him his concerns. Dont go ruin a family over this. If it was found out years ago, a therapist would have sat them down and told them what they were doing was experimenting and then the older brother would have to learn about sex and inapropriate behavior and tell his little brother he was sorry. I know all this because its happening now to my DS!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you 2:11pm. I was getting real nervous here. If the woman opened up to anyone the whole family would fall apart! Children are curious and this is natural.

First Of All Talk To Your Husband. Do Something Before He Gets The chance To Molest. Even If His Brother Hasn't Done Anything Since the Incident There Is Always A Chance He Could Do It Again.

I agree with 2.11pm and 10.58pm. 3 of my aunts were abused in this was by their older brothers but not 1 knew about the others. It all came out when my yougest aunt was 25 and all 5 brothers could not even remember that something happened as they were all young. They have all been to councelling and are working through it. All my uncles have children and we know that we do not have to worry about their safety as their fathers will not do anything to them. I spent my child hood with my uncles before my mother knew any of this had happend and was never harmed by them in any way.
