Usually we keep it open so that we can get to him faster when we need to. We have been keeping it closed for the past few weeks since we got a cat. I don't want the kitten sleeping in his crib at all. Mainly because it may wake him up in the middle of the night. Also, I don't want cat hair all over his bed. I have the monitor on in our bedroom, so I can hear him good enough. We were always worried about a possible fire and being able to reach him without obsticles, like a closed door.

Ever since the girls were babies, we close the door when we put them to bed, but open it when we go to bed.

My kids always sleep with their doors closed and have since they had their own rooms (around 6 months old). Mostly for fire safety reasons. We were taught in school to keep bedroom doors closed to keep fires from spreading (and keep the smoke out). I've always slept with my door closed and so do my children.
Oh, they are 8, 7, 6 (all in one room) and 2 1/2.

I start them off with closed doors, because of the cats, and fire safety. my daughter doen'st like it closed, so we keep it opened a crack. she's in a bed now, and the cats sleep at the foot of her bed, if she lets them. my son has the door closed all night yet.

We close our son's door right when putting him to bed and we are still up, then close it when we go to bed

We installed a screened door so we can hear her easily. We keep it closed to keep the cats out.
