ive notice theres not alot of white families who ahve dreads around where i live we are the only fmily of our ethnic origin who have them, they arent for religous purposes but because we love them and my husband 19 month old son and i all have them and i persoanally think they fit us and out life style. no we arent drug addicts and yes we wash our hair eve with vegan organic shampoo. ho may "normal" people can say that y a know. we are a loving family. we are not ratafarians and nore are wwe in any bike gang or whatever. i do consider myself a hippie and my hubby is a rcock and roll type a guy but is going to college to become a psychologist. im hoping to open my own no kill animal shelter and have already saved a few stray dog and adopted one from a shelter. we are good ppl and i am open to get to know all of you and will answer and misconceptions you may have on the subject because i think its important to understand thing you may not be so sure of. thnx for your help ladies and pe

    i have dreads obviously but i forgot to make that as an answer. i love them and myhubby and i have had the for a very longt time

    I think dreads are really cool, but I don't think my family would ever have them...

    I don't get the race issue here.

    I love them and I would give them to my daughter but only when she gets older, not at her age now though she is only 5. When she gets older and decides she wants them then she can get them done.

    I saw this person who had braided hair. It looked like a giant rat hanging down his back. It was all matted and could not have been combed in decades. I ran as fast as I could, he wanted me to pass him something from the cheese section. YIKES.

    LOL We'd look weird as hell with dreds. IMO, to each their own. If you like it, that's cool. You should do what makes you and your family happy.
