Families are going hungry and homeless here in the US and yet we fork over money for people far away from home. Doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah but families aren't in need they way they are in Haiti. We have toilets and plumbing and even shelters, clothing and assistance for families. Haiti doesn't. If you feel so strongly about your own country then help them, but don't diss others for helping who they care about. Really if we all just cared about SOMEONE no matter where they are the entire world would be a better place.

I help here in the US when possible and I was not able to give to Haiti. It is sad & unfortunate what happened to them.

we cancelled our Dish, life is so much better without the TV. As for the donations, we donate money to an organization that helps people all over the world, where the need is greatest, also here in the US.

I'm sorry, but I feel like we need to help our people before other countries. Who helps US when we need it? No one.

I agree with the first poster. We need to help eachother before we help others. It's a nice thing to do and all, but disasters in america, such as Hurricane Katrina... WE are the only ones who helped. I don't see other countries forking up the money to help us in need. It's like knowing your own family needs help, but instead, helping strangers before them.
