Description:
Christians love to point out that Jesus died for our sins. And God loved us so much he sent his one and only son to die for us. My problem with this is the idea that God is omnipotent. After all, if he makes the rules then Jesus didn't HAVE to die, did he? God made the rule that Jesus had to die. He could've just forgiven those worthy of forgiveness, right? NO DEATH NEEDED. So my question is:

Why did Jesus "need" to die for our sins?

Jesus died to save us from ourselves. God had already destroyed the Earth because of evil once, when Noah and his family were the only ones spared. God promised He'd never do that again, so He sent His son, because humans just couldn't do the right thing, even after what happened with the flood. Jesus was the only sinless, perfect person to ever walk the Earth, and that's why He died, to set us free, and give us eternal life. It's a matter of faith. And belief in God. Without those, I guess it wouldn't make sense. I've never NOT believed in God, so to me, Jesus made the supreme sacrifice for me, and I'm thankful He did, and it's my joy and honor to have Him as my Saviour and Lord.

God sent Jesus as man, so we could relate to him as a person and we can see that God understands our struggles as people. It was to help us connect with God as well as to die for our sins as an ultimate sacrafice for us to show us how much he loves us.
I accepts God's love becuase it is awesome!

Jesus died because of sin. When the first sin was committed it separated mankind from God. God is perfect justice and perfect mercy. However, perfect justice had to be satisfied...someone had to pay the price...for human beings it meant the worst kind of death--complete separation from God. So, Jesus, who is 100 percent human and 100 percent Divine--had NO sin--the perfect offering to perfect justice...underwent all the suffering to repair the damage between God and man--Jesus opened up a way for us to have reconciliation with God.

There has been historical proof of Jesus's existence and proof of early Christians existence. You have two choices here:

    1. Either Jesus was and is who He and Christians say He was

    or

    2. He was a lunatic of some sort

Why would all those Christians die for a lie? Things were passed down by word of mouth first, because they didn't have a Bible for a long time. Why would the early Christians die for a lie? It makes so sense...why would the apostles--specifically Peter--die for a lie? (Peter chose to be crucified upside down. Paul was beheaded. I forget how John and the rest died, but a good amount of them died for their beliefs in Christ).

Either Jesus was who He said He was, or He was a good man who had mental issues. It can't be both. A good amount of Jews believe He was a good man, but not the Messiah. Other people have decided it's a myth, but how could a myth have historical proof? Why would the apostles make such outrageous claims--like someone rising from the dead? They never would've thought of that, they didn't even believe or understand what Jesus was saying at first--until He actually rose from the dead! Thomas didn't even believe until He saw Jesus face to face and put his hands in Jesus' wounds--Jesus said "Blessed are those who have not seen, yet still believe."

If it's a lie, why are there investigations over people who have seen Jesus in visions and experiences that can't be explained through science or medicine.

It's been my experience that it's usually very simple people who would not think of drawing attention to themselves who have had these incredible experiences.

Why would people die for a myth? Honestly, that doesn't make any sense!

Just curious... If sin separated mankind from G-d, then how do you explain all those before Yeshua's (or Jesus as he is known to Christians) time who were considered righteous?

People die for myths all the time! They do it/did it for every religion and cause ever known to man! And I have yet to hear a good explanation of why God would choose to make his son die for people's sins when he could just forgive his 'righteous followers'.

I don't know.  I just don't see how a person could "make up" someone dying on a cross--a very brutal death and rising again.  The apostles didn't even believe Jesus when He talked about it--they didn't understand...and when He died, they forgot His promise.  And yet...there He was.  And He has appeared to others since then...and if you're HONESTLY interested I wouldn't mind recounting things that have happened to people that cannot be explained by medicine or Science and was NOT made up...but if you think it's just a bunch of baloney and stories, then what would be the point of me even trying to prove it?

If you really wanted to know, wouldn't you be looking for a good explanation?
