Bottles, bottles everywhere! That's how I felt during my first few days of feeding my newborn. We decided to exclusively bottle and formula feed my son, so I was prepared from the get go with everything a young mother needs for feeding time with baby.
I remember shopping for the right kind of bottles. We decided to go with glass. Yes, just the old-fashioned glass type. Sterilizing them on the stovetop was such an ordeal, but I also felt it was a right of passage that many other moms before me had done. I did the same with the nipples and lids.
Shopping for the right formula was also daunting, but my husband and I did our homework and picked the best brand that was right for us and our son. Believe me when I tell you that we did our fair share of research. That's how I started most projects for our baby - research!
Now that I had everything I needed to feed an infant, all I needed was my son. I remember standing in my kitchen looking at all the supplies just waiting for the baby to get here.
So when the moment came to give him his first bottle in our very own home, it was quite a thrill. Just the two of us snuggled in the living room rocking chair. He seemed so content to be eating and I felt content to be giving him just what he needed. It was a new world for me, and I loved it.
