Nourishing Milestones

Helping moms nourish their baby's growth and development

Rolling Over for the First Time

I was not prepared for how fast my son grew from just a snuggly newborn infant into a wiggly baby. It happened in the blink of an eye. Other moms had always told me, to cherish moments because they are over in a flash. It was only then, that I started to believe them.

At three months, my son was already learning to roll over. My husband and I must have missed the first time he ever rolled over. We think it happened early in the morning after he woke up. There's no other explanation for him waking up in a totally different spot than where we laid him down the night before!

A few days later while having some tummy time, he flipped right over on his back with little effort. He looked startled, and then began to cry! He had totally scared himself. This flip over, startle, cry thing lasted for a while. But, he soon learned that rolling over was a good way to get into more trouble. If I let him, he'd roll over and over until he reached the entire length of the living room.

This was his first stage of being mobile.
